Neuroaffirming Therapy at Giles House

Giles House Psychology provides trauma-informed, neurodiversity-affirming, and LGBTQIA+-friendly psychological therapy for adults.

Our approach recognises neurological differences as a natural part of human diversity. Rather than focusing on ‘fixing’ or changing who you are, therapy supports greater understanding of your brain, body, and needs.

Our work is grounded in evidence-based practice – drawing on research, clinical frameworks, lived experience, and professional judgement – while recognising that you are the expert on your own life.

Together, we focus on understanding what contributes to distress, identifying strengths and supports, and developing practical, compassionate ways to move toward greater wellbeing and quality of life.

Our work centres on your

lived experience,

strengths,

autonomy

Supporting Autistic & ADHD Adults

Many of the people we work with are Autistic and ADHD adults, including those who are late-identified or who have spent much of their lives masking or adapting to environments that did not support their needs.

Therapy may support you to:

  • Explore your neurotype and how your brain and body work

  • Make sense of masking, burnout, sensory overload, and fatigue

  • Reduce self-blame and build self-compassion

  • Strengthen self-advocacy and needs-based communication

  • Adapt environments, routines, and expectations so they better support your needs

  • Develop regulation strategies that support rest and sustainability

For many people, this work involves reconnecting with their needs, capacities, and preferences, and finding ways of living that feel more supportive and sustainable. Over time, therapy can support a shift from survival and burnout toward greater ease, self-trust, and engagement in life on your own terms.

You do not need a formal diagnosis to begin this work.
