What to Expect When You Visit Giles House Psychology

Giles House Psychology

In Person Therapy for Adults at Giles House Psychology

In-person sessions take place in a calm, comfortable room designed to feel welcoming rather than clinical

The space includes soft furnishings and flexible seating options, including a couch, armchair, or sitting on the floor if that feels more comfortable for you.

Lighting can be adjusted using lamps or overhead lights, depending on what feels easiest on your eyes.

Blankets, fidgets, and other small sensory supports are available, and you’re welcome to bring anything that helps you feel more settled during the session.

There is no expectation to sit a particular way, stay perfectly still, or present yourself in a certain way. The space is yours to use in whatever way feels most comfortable.

Telehealth Appointments Available for Adults Across Australia

Telehealth may be particularly helpful if you:

  • Live outside Adelaide or have limited access to local services

  • Experience chronic illness, fatigue, pain, or mobility challenges

  • Prefer reduced travel and recovery time

  • Find in-person environments overstimulating or draining

Telehealth sessions offer flexibility in how and where you attend. You’re welcome to join from home, work, or another private space, and to choose whether your camera is on or off.

Many clients find Telehealth supports continuity of care during periods of illness, burnout, or fluctuating capacity – without needing to put therapy on hold.

Preparing for Your Telehealth Session

  • Use a device with a stable internet connection. Headphones can be helpful for privacy and sound clarity.

  • You don’t need to prepare anything formal. Some people like to bring a drink, blanket, or fidget to help them feel comfortable.

  • Choose a quiet, private space where you feel comfortable speaking openly.

How Telehealth Appointments Work:

Telehealth sessions are held via secure video link.

Prior to your scheduled appointment, you’ll receive an email/text with a link to your Telehealth appointment – please click this link to join at the scheduled day/time.

You’ll then be directed to a ‘waiting room’ until your session starts.

Planning Your Appointments

Therapy works best when it becomes a regular and protected part of your week or fortnight. We encourage clients to schedule sessions at a consistent time where possible.

Many people find it helpful to book several appointments in advance. This helps to make it easier to keep a time that works for you, and know that ongoing support is in place.

You may also wish to add your appointments to your calendar with reminders so they’re easier to keep track of.

If something unexpected arises, please let us know as soon as you can so we have the opportunity to offer the appointment to someone on the waitlist.

Giles House Psychology

You don’t need a diagnosis, a referral, or a clear reason to begin

Many people simply know that something in their life feels difficult, heavy, or unsustainable, and want support to understand why.

Therapy can help you reconnect with yourself, strengthen your internal resources, and move toward a life that feels more meaningful, manageable, and your own.
