Clinical Psychology Registrar & Founder
Hi, I’m Alex (she/they), Registered Psychologist & Founder of Giles House Psychology
I have over 15 years’ experience working in mental health, alongside earlier work as a social worker, supporting children, parents, and adults across a range of settings. Over time, my work increasingly drew me toward supporting neurodivergent adults, people living with chronic health conditions, and those navigating burnout and the lasting effects of feeling misunderstood or unsupported.
Through my own lived experience, I understand how much energy can go into trying to exist in environments that weren’t designed with you in mind. I also know how powerful it can be to experience spaces where you are genuinely understood, accepted, and supported. Giles House Psychology was created to offer that kind of space.
These experiences have shaped how I approach therapy and the kind of space I aim to create for the people I work with.
People often describe me as warm, thoughtful, and easy to talk to. I value authenticity and believe therapy works best when you feel safe enough to be fully yourself. You don’t need to have the right words, a clear plan, or a specific goal when you begin. We can figure things out together.
More About Me…
Outside of my work, I value creativity, connection, and the small things that bring comfort and delight – nature (especially the smell of roses!), fairy lights, Squishmallows, food, and travel. These parts of who I am, alongside my professional experience, inform the way I relate to others and the care I bring to my work. True to form, I love a good psychology info dump and am always collecting books, ideas, and professional development.
These glimmers remind me that meaningful change often happens gently, through safety, connection, and self-understanding.

My Approach to Therapy
I see you as the expert on your own life. My role is not to fix you, but to walk alongside you – offering support, perspective, and tools to help you better understand yourself and navigate challenges in ways that feel sustainable and supportive of your needs.
Therapy with me is flexible and responsive to your energy, capacity, and goals. We move at a pace that feels safe and manageable. There is no expectation to mask, perform, or push beyond what feels helpful. You are welcome to show up exactly as you are.
Sessions often focus on building self-understanding, reducing self-blame, strengthening emotional and nervous system regulation, and creating practical changes that improve your day-to-day life. Over time, therapy can support greater self-trust, clarity, and a stronger sense of connection with yourself, with others, and with the environments you move through.
Therapy draws on evidence-based approaches including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT), Collaborative Proactive Solutions (CPS), attachment-based work, mindfulness, and somatic and nervous system-informed strategies.
These approaches are used thoughtfully and adaptively, always guided by what is most helpful for you.
Above all, therapy is a space where you can feel heard, respected, and supported.
Many of the people who come to Giles House share similar experiences, challenges, or questions about themselves and their lives.
